Some time ago, I happened to reflect, with a hint of melancholy, on how the modern world has often tended to replace old-world traditions with an increasingly uniform and global culture. This Christmas, however, an unexpected gift arrived to question that reflection.
Beneath the tree I found handcrafted knapsacks by Fantini Pelletteria. Designed in San Marino by artisans who use quality Tuscan leathers and with attention even to the smallest visible details, they seem to testify that some traditions live on.
And what was inside one of these knapsacks? A book on Dante in his historical context – the result of the work of scholars who write with the same attention and respect, preserving history.
What can I say? There are traditions that still pass from hand to hand, with thoughtfulness and care.
